SANAY-SENNA-CASIA ANGUSTIFOLIA SEED Senna is one of the most often used herb in Ayurveda- traditional Indian system of health. It has a reputation as a powerful purging herb.The leaves and green, immature pods contain glycosides like sennocides A and B, which are extensively used as a laxative particularly for habitual constipation. It is a rare and useful herb which provides several benefits health and beauty benefits. HOW TO GROW: For best results, place the seeds in boiling water and let them soak until the water reaches room temperature. This breaks the seed coat and wakes the seed from dormancy to allow water and gases to pass through so the seed will germinate. After soaking, the seeds will appear dull in color but should not be pitted or cracked. The treated seeds will not store well, so they should be planted immediately after the hot water soak.
Senna will not do well in overly wet soil. Till the soil deeply and let it dry thoroughly in the sun. Before planting, work manure into the soil. Plant in 12-inch rows spaced 12 inches apart about an inch deep. Senna is drought-tolerant and does not do well with excessive watering.
